Upper Dharamshala recently witnessed a successful cleanliness drive under the Clean Upper Dharamshala Programme, which has been widely appreciated by local residents and visitors. The initiative aimed to improve sanitation, promote environmental awareness, and maintain the natural beauty of the hill town.
Volunteers, local authorities, and community members joined hands to clean public spaces, roadsides, markets, and tourist areas. Waste collection points were cleared, plastic waste was removed, and awareness messages about responsible waste disposal were shared with residents and shopkeepers.
Officials involved in the programme stated that the drive was not a one-time effort but part of a longer-term plan to ensure sustainable cleanliness in Upper Dharamshala. They also encouraged citizens to reduce the use of plastic and actively participate in keeping their surroundings clean.
Local people praised the initiative, noting that the area looked significantly cleaner and more welcoming after the drive. Many also highlighted the importance of continuing such programmes regularly to preserve the region’s natural charm and tourism appeal.
The Clean Upper Dharamshala Programme stands as an example of how collective community action can lead to meaningful environmental improvement.
